

Edward Krause “Ed” Ellenwood, age 54, of Bloomington, died Sunday morning at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital after an extended illness. Born June 19, 1961 in Warsaw, Indiana he was the son of Jerry C. and Sue (Krause) Ellenwood. As a child he played Little League football and basketball. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School North, Class of 1979 where he served on the year book staff and the student athletic committee. That same year he assisted former Indiana University Football coach Phil Dickens with the All-Star Football game normally held at Indiana University. He attended the Ohio University and was a 1983 graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor degree in Journalism. He had been employed as an elementary school teacher for the Indianapolis Public Schools and was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
He is survived by his father, Jerry C. Ellenwood, of Bloomington; one aunt, Helen Ervin, of Ft. Wayne and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Krause Ellenwood, on August 2, 2014 and his sister, Becky Ellenwood, on April 1, 1985.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. with Pastor Tom Ellsworth and Rev. Robert Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will be gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Diabetes Association, the I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital Foundation or to the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
