Surrounded by her children, spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved and cherished her, Eleanor Boyd Phillippe departed with the Lord on October 22nd in the beautiful hills of Brown County. Eleanor was born to Samuel and Helen (O’Neall) Boyd on April 16, 1924 in Washington, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Phillippe.
Eleanor attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing and moved to Bloomington after marrying James, who was attending Indiana University. After working as a nurse at the IU Student Health Center, Eleanor began her most fulfilling role as a mother and gave her three children a childhood full of love, security, support, and faith. She and James were long-time members of St. Charles. In later years, Eleanor became the Executive Secretary of the IU Friends of Music and served as a Board Emeritus for many years. Eleanor loved attending opera, music productions, and recitals performed by the School of Music. As her children had their own families, Eleanor cherished her role as a grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 5, making each grandchild feel unique and special. Time spent with family celebrating family birthdays and special events, traveling to destinations near and far, playing cards and games, and simple pleasures shared together were her most loved pastimes. Eleanor was always ready for any adventure with friends and family, no matter how last-minute the invitation.
Eleanor is survived by her family, who misses her dearly; daughters, Patricia Phillippe Champion and her husband Michael, of Portage, Michigan, and Barbara Phillippe Voget and her husband K.C., of Colorado Springs, CO, her son, Mark Phillippe and his wife Mary Grace of Indianapolis, IN; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spouses, Joshua, Leydi, Hudson, Monica, Ben, Gerard, Amelia, Jacob, Morgan, Benjamin, John Paul, Nathan, Isaiah, Samuel, Cecelia, Courtney, Brady, Cali, Casey, Tyler, Kyle, Jayla, Luke, Matthew, Sarah, Jeremy, Zachary, and Ryan along with her sister, Barbara Boyd Maves.
