Elsie Berniece Ooley

Elsie Berniece Ooley, age 95, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away, Sunday, February 15, 2025 at Majestic Care Health Center in Bloomington. Born May 24, 1930 in Parke County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Homer and Malinda (Martin) Phipps. Elsie was a member of the Eastern Star and

Cross Roads United Methodist Church. She enjoyed participating in Eastern Star and church activities, playing cards, quilting, being a seamstress and spending time with her family.

Elsie is survived by her two loving children, Dan Ooley, of Indianapolis and Sylvia (Ted) Theiste, of Phoenix, Arizona, one sister, Mary (Ray) Turner, of Muncie, Indiana, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “John” Ooley, on November 18, 2019 and five siblings, Ocie Staggs, Homer Earl Phipps, Eugene Phipps, Frank Phipps and Carrie Headley.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ray New officiating. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
