Obituary of Evelyn Ann Ogle
Evelyn Ann “Nanny” Ogle passed away peacefully on the morning of April 28, 2024 at 88 years of age in her home. She is survived by her 4 children: Terry (Rena) Ogle, Cathy (Dave Duncan) Ogle, Karen O’Bannon-Ogle, Jimmy (Judy) Ogle; 6 grandchildren: Michael Purtlebaugh, Brandi Evans, Tiffany Ogle, Ethan Ogle, Joshua (Ashley) Ogle, Matthew Ogle; and 5 great-grandchildren: Darian Evans, Cody Purtlebaugh, Amellia Ogle, Ruby Ogle, and Archer Ogle. She is also survived by her sister Orvella (Kenny) Heaton, and her sister-in-laws: Sue Ogle and Letha Oliphant. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim P. Ogle, 88, in May 2023; her parents Orville Oliphant and Velma Busby-Oliphant-Helms; her brother David Oliphant and her great-grandson Timmy Isom. Evelyn was a wife and homemaker for most of her life. She prided herself on a well-kept home and giving her best when it came to taking care of those she loved. She had a great sense of humor and always knew how to make us laugh. She didn’t believe in feeling sorry for yourself and would tell you to ‘dust yourself off’ and keep on going. That mentality is indicative of the strength and can-do spirit that Evelyn embodied. Evelyn loved watching and participating in sports. She was a die-hard IU basketball fan and participated in local square dancing events with her husband. She was a dedicated member of her local bowling league at Classic Bowling Lanes and loved participating in state tournaments. She loved horseshoes as well and was an active participant in the American Horseshoe Pitchers Association (AHPA) for the Monroe County Horseshoe League. Her skills at horseshoes earned her multiple plaques and trophies, including receiving the honor of becoming Mrs. Horseshoe from the AHPA in 2003. She is loved and she is missed. During the past year and a half, she was lovingly taken care of by her husband until he passed and then that care was continued by her family. It was a blessing to be able to keep her comfortable in her home, surrounded by love, during the twilight of her life. We are grateful to Careforth and Southern Care for their services. There will be a private family viewing Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, at 2PM with a dinner to follow at 4PM, for extended family and close friends, located at Little Cincinnati Christian Church in Bloomfield, IN. Contributions in Evelyn's memory may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1923 Liberty Drive, Bloomington, Indiana 47403 US, https://www.southerncarehsp.com; and Careforth, https://info.careforth.com.
