Evelyn Marie Vernon

Evelyn Marie Vernon (Lynn) age 94 passed away on September 19, 2023. Lynn was born October 13, 1928, in Brooklyn New York. She is one of 11 children born to Michael Parenti and Margaret Pepio Parenti. She was a housewife and mother. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, Padre Pio, the Blessed Virgin and the rosary. Her life was spent teaching her faith, especially devoted to the Latin mass.

She lead the rosary at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church under the leadership of Father Higgins. She had monthly spaghetti dinners at Saint Paul’s Catholic Center and served hundreds. Mom loved to cook and was well known for her Italian dinners. She was a beautifully original soul. She had great memories of seeing Frank Sinatra with her sister Grace. She loved the Brooklyn Dodgers and the World Series. She never lost her Brooklyn accent.

She is survived by her seven children Mike (Denise); Rob (Ginny); Valarie Gillaspy (Tom); Linda Barnhart; (Dave); L’Marie; Bill (Amanda); Chuck (Shane); 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grand children, sisters-in-law: JoAnn and Joan Vernon, She was preceded in death by her parents, her children’s father Charles Lee Vernon and grandson Matthew Caleb Vernon; brothers: Emanuel, Rocco, Johnny, Anthony (her twin), Joey, Salvatore and Michael Parenti, sisters: Rose, Grace and Margaret.

Funeral services will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street, Bloomington at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 23, 2023 with Father Dennis Duvelius officiating; burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
