

Florence Louise (Flo) Hartman, age 92, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday at the I.U. Health; Hospice House with her family by her side. Born September 7, 1920 in Harrodsburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Claude and Clyde (Smith) McGlothlin. She met the love of her life, Bernard Hartman, at the age of 14, married at the age of 16 and had their first son, Jerry Hartman at the age of 18. Six years later she had their second son, Larry Joe Hartman. Flo graduated from Smithville High School and was a long-time member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She retired from RCA and later served as a volunteer Pink Lady at Bloomington Hospital. After retirement, she and Bernard spent their winters at Sun N Fun Resort in Florida. She was an avid shuffle board player and played with a competitive spirit. She loved to read, watch her daily soaps and was a lady of many talents. She was an excellent seamstress, could crochet, knit and design beautiful silk flower arrangements. Despite suffering from several health problems including breast cancer, she continued on her pathway. Flo was a courageous woman who never gave up while coping with sadness and obstacles of life.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sarah Pearl Hartman, of Bloomington; one grandson, Jeff Hartman and his wife, Kelli; great-grandsons, A.J. and Bradley and three sisters-in-law, Marie Hedrick, Jean Chandler and Hazel Hamm and her husband, Paul, all of Bloomington. A.J. and Bradley were the light of her life, she so enjoyed going to their sporting events and was so very proud of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Bernard, her son, Larry Joe, granddaughter , Jill Hartman Hodges, grandson-in-law, Rusty Hodges, great-granddaughter, Sarah Ann Hodges, brothers, Eugene and Bryce McGlothlin and six sisters, Alma Fodrill, Mary May, Ruby Clay, Martha Dodds, Virginia Rinnert and Treva McGlothlin. She was more recently preceded in death by one niece, Ronda Jefferson.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Day Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Hazel officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M.
The family expresses thanks to the staff at Garden Villa Rehab and to I.U. Health; Hospice House for their love, compassion and care for Flo during her times there and also to her friends and Uno buddies at Cambridge Square Apartments for the love and friendship they embraced her with. The family appreciates each and every one of them. As well, a very special thanks to Joy Oldfield as the family could not have made this journey of Flo’s without her this past year.
