

Betty was born in 1931 to James W. & Josephine C. Riddle in Bloomington, IN and was a 1949 graduate of Spencer High School. In June of 1949, she married Harvey E. Ranard in Spencer, IN. She and her husband were long time residents of Owen County, IN until 1985 when they moved to Bloomington, IN.
She was employed at Otis Elevator in Bloomington and retired from there as a Specifier in 1992 after 26 years.
She loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, camping, gardening and visiting coastal beaches.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harvey; her parents, James & Josephine Riddle, three brothers, Homer, Robert and Vernon Riddle and sister, Edna Dayhuff.
Betty is survived and will be sadly missed by her three children: Harvey (Ed) Ranard, Jr. (Barbara) of Morgantown, IN; Vicki Frazo (James) of Lake Wales, FL; and Chris Ranard of Bloomington; Four grandchildren: Amy Blanton (Tim) of Hinesville, GA, Lori Haggard (Mike) of Nashville, IN, Ryan Ranard of Bloomington, IN and Casandra Ranard of Bloomington, IN; Two Step-Grandchildren: Julie and Terresa Frazo of Bedford, IN; Five great grandchildren: Samuel, Gabe, and Joanna Rumsey of Nashville, IN, Timothy Woodard of Statesboro, GA and Daniel Blanton of Hinesville, GA; her close and caring companion of recent years, Mr. Chester Maners of Solsberry, IN, several nieces, nephews and friends.
She will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother, a beautiful and caring person and dear friend to many. A woman of hugs, wit and great love with a special heartfelt tender love toward her Savior. Her battle with Parkinson’s and blindness in her last few years was difficult, but throughout she retained her dignity and smile.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb.12th, at Day Funeral Home, 4150 E. 3rd St. in Bloomington, IN with Rev. Lee Snider officiating. Burial will be at Gross Cemetery on Whitehall Pike.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb.11th and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Research Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
