Herman Dale Kinser, 93, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in I.U. Health Hospice House with his family at his side. He was born April 27, 1926 in Bloomington to Marshall and Rosanna Kinser.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Fulford Kinser of Bloomington; five children, Jeanine (husband Don) Wall of Carmel, Glenda Parrish of Bloomington, Larry (wife Lisa) Kinser of Indianapolis, Sherrie Hogan of Spencer and Monica (husband Rusty) Flake of Bloomfield; a brother, Marshall Kinser of Camby; six grandchildren, Dana (Jackie) Delp of Bloomington, Donnie Wall of Evansville, Mandy (Ross Baughman) Bowman of Bloomington, Dustin (Dominique) Kinser of Indianapolis, Jacob (Ginny) Jones of Darlington and Sheridan Hogan of Spencer; eight great grandchildren, Ali (Jason) Elmore, Elizabeth and Chloe Smith, Sydney Wall, Hannah Delp, Chaylee, Rylee and Owen Kinser and another boy on the way; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mom, Esther (George) Covey; and two son-in-laws, Roger Parrish and Danny Hogan.
Herman enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, he served during W.W. II on the USS Idaho in the Pacific Theatre and was discharged in March of 1946. Herman worked 37 years as a florist and most recently as the manager at Ellis Floral. He was a member of VFW Post 604 and American Legion Post 18, he loved having family visit at his home, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, woodworking and going to horse races with his kids.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, February 14, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 15, at 11:00 AM also in the funeral home with Forest Gafford officiating; burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery where the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard will offer Military Honors.
