James R. Avery

James R. Avery died unexpectedly at his home in Oolitic, IN on July 29, 2012. He was 67 years old. Jim was born in Herrin, IL to the late James Loren and Nellie Weddle Avery. He worked at RCA/Thomson for more than 40 years before retiring in 2000.Jim was an avid IU sports fan and he loved mushroom hunting. Jim will be dearly missed by his friends and most of all, his family.He is survived by his six children; James “Jim” Avery, Angela Avery, Virginia “Ginger”Avery Long and companion Paul Fleener, April Avery, Andy Avery and Brittany Avery Hudson and husband Steve.Jim is also survived by 9 grandchildren and two brothers; Mike Barrow and Danny Barrow and his sister-in-law Rita Barrow. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Felicia Avery, his brother Billy Barrow and his sister Mary Margaret Barrow.Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in Day Funeral Home.
