
John Thomas Burnham, age 75, of Bloomington, passed away, Tuesday, September 09,2025 at I.U. Bloomington Hospital. Born February 6,1950 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, he was the son of John and Elizabeth (Howard) Burnham. John was a talented musician where he played French horn in several orchestras throughout his professional career. He enjoyed both listening and performing many genres of music. Being an avid reader, he believed in the educational process and as a result was passionate about and could do many things. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was a faithful donor to the Monroe County Public Library, W.T.I.U. Public Broadcasting, the Project School and Indiana University.
John is survived by three daughters; Melissa Sexton, of Blairsville, Georgia, Margaret Fox, of Gainesville, Georgia and Emily Burnham, of Marietta, Georgia, one son, John Fredrick “Freddie” Burnham, of Bloomington, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Burnham, of Tennessee, William “Bill” Burnham, of Michigan and Larry Umpeg, of Mexico and one sister, Helen Hatch, of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Tobe Burnham and one sister, Betty Burnham.
There is no visitation or service scheduled at this time. The family may announce a Gathering Celebration of Life at a future date
