Jonathon Matthew Wood, a resident of Bloomington, died unexpectedly on Friday, 9 October 2026. The only child of Angela Jackson and Jason Wood, Jonathon Matthew Wood was born on 28 June 1995 in Waukegan, IL. Born into a Dual-Active Duty Military Family, Jonathon saw many ways of life, grew to live a life of service to others, and blessed the lives of everyone he met.
Jonathon was raised in Norfolk, VA from August 1995 until April 2004 when his family was transferred to Bloomington, IN. Living in Bloomington was Jonathon’s first opportunity to live in the same area with family and live where his mom grew up. Jonathon attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, being baptized in 2005, attended Needmore Elementary (2005-2006) and University Elementary (2006-2007).
In July 2007, the family was transferred to Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. Jonathon fell in love at first sight with Oahu, its beauty, and the Ohana, calling it his “true home” in his heart. Being surrounded by the history of Pearl Harbor, and living on Pearl Harbor Naval Base, Jonathon decided to join the military after High School. He attended Aliamanu Middle School (2007-2009) and Admiral Arthur W. Radford High School (2009-2010), both in Honolulu, HI. Jonathon was active in Youth Programs at Sunset Beach Christian Church on North Shore, Haleiwa, HI, helping his parents and Grandparents expand the Children’s Ministry.
When his mom’s family transferred back to Indiana in July 2010, Jonathon moved to Fulton, MO to live with his father and his Missouri family, graduating from Fulton High School in May 2013. Jonathon joined the US Navy in February 2015, but was later discharged for medical reasons.
Jonathon rebuilt his future after the Navy in Bloomington, moving back to Fulton, MO in the summer of 2015, and began working with Faith Technologies. Jonathon married Brianne Elizabeth Blythe on 09 August 2020, and their daughter Blair Caroline Wood was born on 30 December 2022. Jonathon and Brianne divorced in 2024, and Jonathon ultimately returned to Bloomington in May 2025 and lived here until his death.
