Joe was born on November 28, 1956, to Florentino Granados and Ramona Granados in San Antonio, Texas. He began a successful construction career in 1976 as a pipefitter and through hard work and dedication ended as a pipe superintendent. He was awarded over 25 years of perfect attendance with Zachary Construction and over his career received a variety of accolades. His line of work allowed him to travel to many places including the Marshall Islands and Venezuela.
He is survived by his life partner Priscilla Pina (Drusila and Ursela), son Joe Granados (Roxanne), daughter Misty Winkler (Dustin), son Daniel Granados, 19 grandchildren, Mother Ramona Granados, sisters Janie Escamilla (Juan), Olga Fernandez (Mark), Mary Johnson (Gerald), Gracie Chavarria (Raymond), brother Raul Granados (Diane) and many loved nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Florentino Granados.
Joe was a hard and dedicated worker that used his intelligence, charm and hearty friendships to make sure he and a bounty of others always had work. Once he would get the call for a project, he immediately began assembling his team. His loyalty and friendships are one of the great stories in his legacy.
Joe loved hosting bar-b-ques at his house and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was the ultimate host. He always made sure your drink was full, plate was full, and food was overflowing. He always had a story to tell or a joke to say. He would start a story serious; you weren’t sure what was next, he’d lead up to the serious part and there was the punch line – light and laughter. He was the kind of person who could make everyone feel welcome and loved. From a checker at the grocery store to his family and friends, he brightened your day.
Our hearts are heavy with his loss, but his love and memories remain. In his memory we won’t cry for him as he wished but instead celebrate who he was, what he meant to us, and the great impact he had on our lives. Each person he crossed has a special story of him to cherish and smile about.
