

Lloyd Pendleton Taysom, a long-time resident of Bloomington, passed away on August 31, 2015 in Garden Villa. Lloyd was born in Afton, Wyoming on November 15, 1926 to the late Abram and Amelia(Pendleton)Taysom.
He married Martha Peterson on August 28, 1964 in Manti, Utah.
Lloyd was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. Lloyd was a popular and respected teacher at University Elementary School, teaching science and math to 4th graders for 23 years. He was a scholar of the ancient and modern languages: Latin, Greek, Hebrew, French and German. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bloomington. He filled a mission for the church in the Eastern States Mission and was a Bloomington Stake patriarch.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife Martha of 51 years and their five children: Tamara Lee Taysom, Tia Marie(Daniel)Dali, Amy Amelia(Daniel)Bartholomew, Matthew Hyrum Taysom and Christopher Michael(Riza)Taysom and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana 47401. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 2411 E. 2nd St., Bloomington, IN 47404 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with military honors presented by the Monroe County Honor Guard.
