She then went on to graduate with a degree in elementary education from Taylor University in 1985, and began teaching for Fort Wayne Community Schools. Three years later she married Tuan and relocated to Bloomington, Indiana. She began teaching for Spencer-Owen Community Schools that same year. One year later, she acquired her Masters of Arts degree in education from Ball State University. She continued to teach in SOCS schools for almost twenty-seven years until her health prevented her from doing so any longer. She wished to thank all of the people that she met during her lifetime for the lessons they taught her, and she asked that any commemoratives be given to a charity of one's own choosing.
There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Marcia J. Nguyen on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN.
