

Margaret “Pegge” Campbell Ewers, 87, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 in I.U. Health Hospice House. She was born July 27, 1926 in Sidney, Ohio to Charles Knight Campbell and Muriel Key Campbell.
Survivors include a daughter, Shawn Ewers Bourke (Wally) of Indianapolis; two sons, Scott Joseph Ewers (Deborah) of Hercules, CA and Dirk Stahr Ewers (Ganhan) of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Justin S. Ewers (fiancé Alyssa), Joel D. Bourke, Haley M. Mulligan (Matthew), Emma K. Ewers, Evan K. Ewers and Aiden G. Ewers; and a sister, Ann Heath (Del) of Vero Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles Merlin Campbell (Bobbi) and Quincey Key Campbell (Peggy).
Pegge as she was better known, moved to Bloomington in 1956 and loved Bloomington so much she made it her lifetime home. A diehard IU fan she started working for the IU alumni association in 1971 retiring in 1991. She held positions with the alumni association as Varsity Club secretary, director of tours, director of membership, director of alumni clubs, and coordinator of the Mini University. She was past president and executive secretary of the University Club. She was the recipient of IU’s Distinguished Gertrude Rich Award. Other memberships include St. Marks United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa, DAR, Northern Ohio Alumni Association and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday October 10, 2013 in Day Funeral Home, 4150 East 3rd Street, at 10:00 A.M. with Chaplain Kirk Messick officiating. Visitation is scheduled on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. If friends so desire, Memorial Contributions may be made to I.U.
