Martha Rose Adkins

Martha Rose (Wilkerson) Dalton Adkins of Bloomington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Born on August 11, 1938, in Stinesville, IN, she was the daughter of Louis and Virginia (McGraw) Wilkerson.

Surviving are the sons, Eddie Kimmel and Gussie Lee (Laura) Dalton; daughter, Rochelle (Wesley) Stephenson; grandchildren, Brianna Backus, Chelsea Kimmel, James Lee (Brittany Mare Hull) Dalton, Oaklyn Gean Dalton, Wesley Stephenson II; great grandchildren, Braxton, Ethan, Grayson, Korbin Backus of Salem, and Malik Pointer of Scottsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, David Franklin Wilkerson, who was Martha’s twin died at one month old; Mary Owens, Sammy Wilkerson, Minnie Jane Wilkerson, Everett Wilkerson; and three half-sisters, Pauline Hanner, Lavenne Grubb, and Lucille Grubb.

Martha was of the Pentecostal faith. She cherished her time with her family and friends. Martha was a very giving person; if she saw someone in need, she would open her home, cabinets, and wallet to help in any way she could. She was a custodian for many years at IU Bloomington, the county courthouse, and MCSC. She loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart.

Funeral services will be held at Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1st at 12pm with Bro. Wesley Stephenson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Chambersville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday, November 30th.
