Marvin E. Beckman Jr.

Marvin E. Beckman, Jr., age 51, of Bloomington, died April 23rd at his residence. Born June 20, 1960, in Seattle, Washington, he was the son of Marvin E. Beckman, Sr. and Sharon E. (Berg) Beckman. He was a believer in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Marvin was a talented auto and boat mechanic who thoroughly enjoyed working on cars, boats, motorcycles and snowmobiles. He was artistic and creative — attributes that shone through in his work. In his younger years, he was an avid hydroplane racer and expert water-skier, including barefoot water-skiing. He had a love for animals and cared greatly for his pets. Marvin also cared for people and was a blessing to others. He will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Sharon Beckman, of Antioch, Illinois; three brothers: Carl Beckman, of Grayslake, Illinois; Eric Beckman, of Antioch, Illinois; and Joe King, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and two sisters: Amy (Beckman) Sekili, of Libertyville, Illinois; and Melissa Beckman, of Antioch, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 1 p.m. (EDT) at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Bloomington with Rev. James Gwinn officiating. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
