Mary Jane Hoene

Mary Jane Hoene-McGruder “Lou”, 57, of Bloomington passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 at I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital. She was born July 10th, 1964 in Bloomington, IN to William and Cleo McGruder.

Survivors include children, Ashley (Steve Snyder) Deckard of Bloomington and Anthony McGruder of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Jaylen Arthur, Kaden Arthur, Jazzlyn Arthur, and Breaunna Early; and three brothers, Robert McGruder of Vancouver, Keith (Lisa Dayton) York of Bloomington, and Kevin McGruder of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley Poindexter.

Lou was a feisty person (she let you know what she thought!) with a heart of gold. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Family and friends were central to her life. She cherished her time with them, especially her sister, Shirley. Lou had many fond memories of spending time with her mother and sister at the local Elks lodge. In her free time, she loved watching sports, especially football, and advocating for the well-being of the homeless.

There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St.
