Mary R. Isom

Mary R. Isom, 89, of Bloomington, IN passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. She was born October 22, 1936, in Greene County, IN the daughter of the late Edison and Pauline Sherfield.

Mary retired after 40 years with RCA. She was loved and enjoyed by many; she was a dandy! She enjoyed Bingo, cooking, travelling, fishing, and hunting for mushrooms. She was an extremely huge fan of Hoosier sports; especially, and Indiana University team, the Pacers, and Colts. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Zackey and Teresa (Jimmy) Sissman; her son, Earl (Deborah) Isom; her ten grandchildren, Heather (Yazan) Stewart, Kevin (Dianna) Stewart, Stacey (Michael) Morron, Michael (Amy) Sissman, Danielle Zackey, Ashley (Roger) Sissman, Brittany (Shay) Clark, Evan (Kendra) Griggs, Elizabeth Isom, and Nicholas Isom; fifteen great-grandchildren, her special cat, Applejack; and many other beloved family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her lifelong companion, Earl Chambers; two daughters, Connie Isom and Brenda Isom Morron; and siblings, Alice Gooch, Frances Cunningham, Martha Sherfield, Charles Sherfield, Carl Sherfield, Eugene Sherfield, Robert Sherfield, Gilbert Sherfield, Floyd Sherfield, and Paul Sherfield.

Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Ellettsville Methodist Cemetery.
