

Mary Jane Pennington, 93, of Bloomington passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospice House. Born October 9, 1932 in Montrose, Colorado, she was the daughter of Samuel and Anna Lucero. Mary Jane retired as a registrar clerk at Indiana University. Mary Jane loved music and dancing and took immense pride in her children and grandchildren. Mary Jane enjoyed making stained glass, working puzzles and attending musical performances at I.U. She was formerly a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was of the Catholic faith.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Lori (Don) Wagner, of Fishers, Indiana, her son, Andrew “Andy” (Joyce) McClary, of Bedford, Indiana; three grandchildren, Andrew Jacob McClary, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Amanda Jo (Kyle) Wilson, of Bedford, Indiana and Jeffery “Jeff” William (Cate) Wagner, of Fortville, Indiana; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Wagner (Michael) Metcalf, of Berlin, Germany and Kenneth “Ken” Wagner, of Indianapolis, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Rylie Mullen, Reagan Mullen and Levi Wagner; four step-great-grandchildren, Riley Wilson, Skylar Wilson, Lorraine Metcalf and Robert Metcalf and one sister, Esther Kuretich, of Grand Junction, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Bill” McClary, her second husband Marshall “Gene” Pennington in 2007 and three sisters, Doris Iresques, of Salt Lake City, Utah, June Knutson, of Denver, Colorado and Virginia Anderberg, of Brush, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 12 noon at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the I.U. Health Hospice.
