Max Headley

Max Headley, age 83, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, formerly of Bloomington, died Saturday of congestive heart failure in Fountain Hills. Born July 30, 1929 in Bloomington, he was the son of Morse and Grace (Brummett) Headley. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1954.
Max graduated from University High School in 1947, where he played on the basketball team. He attended Indiana University and was a member of Pershing Rifle Team. He was married in 1948 to his high school sweetheart, Suzanne. Three years later, in 1951 he joined the Navy Reserve during the Korean War. In 1954 he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to work for ACF (American Car Foundery). Later, ACF became affiliated with NASA, where Max did testing at Nevada Test Sites for the Apollo 13 Project. That included the Lunar Module which flew a few men to the moon. In all he worked for the Atomic Energy Commision through 1967. He worked for many computer corporations throughout the country. He retired from Conner Corporation of Hunting Beach, California as a Process Engineer. He was a Lifetime Member of National Rifle Association and an avid deer hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Cornacchione) Headley, of Fountain Hills; three sons, Morrie Headley and wife Gail, of Allen, Texas and Matthew Headley and Jim Crouch, both of Carefree, Arizona; one brother, Ivan Headley, of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Amy Herring of Ft. Worth, Texas and Caleb Headley, of Katy, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Jorden and Bailey Herring, Madison Ditmore, Kyra, Cole, Brady and Izabella Headley and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Winfred Morse Headley, James Walter Headley, Leon Morse Headley, Irvin Eugene Headley and one sister, Evelyn Grace Forbes.
He was a devoted and loving husband for 64 years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He maintained friendships with people from all eras of his life. He will be sorely missed by all.
Friends may visit the family on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Allen Headley officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to The American Heart Association.
