Nancy Lee Greenwald Garrett, 88, of Bloomington passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 in her home with her family at her side. She was born May 14, 1935 in Peru, Indiana to Lewis Greenwald and Grace Andersen Greenwald. She was retired after 48 years from Indiana University and currently the owner of The Garret Antique Shop.
Survivors include her four daughters, Dara Price of Bloomington, Diana (Chris) Jackson of Bloomington, Debra (John) O’Meara of Salem, South Carolina and Deena (Clay) Jenkins of Indianapolis; a son, David (Roselyn) Garrett of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Daniel, Wm. Rusty, Carrie, Chris, Dalyn and Robert; eight great grandchildren, Ariana, Will, Wrigley, Wrylan, Daria, Hadley, Georgia and Laiyla; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Garrett; a brother, Greg Greenwald; and a niece, Tammy Greenwald.
Nancy was a member of The Senior Executive Club and the Bloomington Antique Dealers Association. Since 1964, she and Dennis had owned The Garret Antique Shops in Bloomington and Ellettsville. She enjoyed collecting antiques, reading, traveling, playing board games and cats.
There will be a Memorial Gathering on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street, Bloomington.
