As a child she loved to spend time fishing and exploring the woods of Lawrence co with her father.
She graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School class of 1994.
Dec 10, 1994, Michelle married Steve Chapman. They had 2 wonderful children Jordan and Jacob.
Michelle was a beautiful, caring wife and mother. Whether leading a girl scout troop, cheering at a swim meet, learning to play the dulcimer, taking a polar plunge in lake Monroe or kayaking local waterways with her husband Steve. Michelle was always ready for the next adventure.
In 2001 she graduated from Ivy Tech and became an LPN. She worked for Bell Trace Health and Living, Meadowood and Jill's House. All in Bloomington, IN.
Nursing was always an obvious choice for Michelle. When not caring for people, she was constantly rescuing animals of all kinds. (Horses, donkeys, dogs, goats, ferrets, pigs and chickens). She was also an avid gardener.
In 2019 Michelle was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of kidney cancer. The prognosis was grim, but Michelle was never one to give up.
Shortly after the diagnosis Jordan became engaged to Collin Milbrath. Michelle's goal became to see the wedding. She did better than that. She got ordained and performed the ceremony herself.
Michelle had always wanted to fly a kite on the beach in FL. In the summer of 2020, the Chapman family went to FL courtesy of their children. On the last day there the Chapman family was nearly alone on the beach. Michelle felt great, having taken a break from her treatments at that time. Steve described it as a "perfect" day. He was able to get a wonderful picture of Michelle. Sitting contently in her beach chair. Looking over the waves. Her kite string tied to the back of her beach chair. Kite flying high overhead. Sadly, perfect days never last. 2021 was far crueler. On Aug 24, 2021 at 4:44 pm Michelle was called home.
Surviving Michelle are her loving husband Steve Chapman, Daughter Jordan (Chapman) Milbrath, Son Jacob Chapman, Mother Paula (Davis) Bower, Brother Christopher Bower, Sister-in-law Tammy Fox and Niece Veruca Bower
Michelle was proceeded in death by her father David Ross Bower.
