

Pat was born in Detroit, Michigan, where she attended Catholic Central High School and earned a Registered Nursing degree from Providence Hospital. In 1967 she moved to Bloomington where she led an amazing life, focussed on family, service to the community and helping others.
After years of working as a nurse and raising her family, Pat developed a distinguished career in public service. She served 5 terms in elected office as City Clerk of Bloomington and 14 years as Chairman of the Monroe County Democratic Party. In addition Pat worked in leadership roles at numerous other local, state, and national political, community and charitable organizations. Pat received the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award (Indiana’s highest civilian honor) twice for her contributions to the community. Her network of family and friends reaches across the country and the world.
Pat enjoyed family, travel, and helping others. Over the years she mentored and helped countless people in pursuing their careers and lives. Her impact is felt through the success of others and in the lasting effect on the community.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother Helen Williams, husband Thomas Coleman, and first husband James P. Williams. She is survived by her brother James M. Williams, children Megan Williams Van Eijk (Robert), Matt Williams (Debra), Mike Williams, Chris Williams (Jessica), Beth Coleman Valdettaro (Edward), Heidi Coleman Burton (Walter), Erick Coleman (Missy), and Susan Coleman Snyder (David). She had 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Patricia Williams will take place on November 8th, 2025 from 11:30AM-3:30PM at the Tudor Room 900 E 7th Street Bloomington, IN 47405.
