Richard L. Schweer, a kind and gentle soul, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. He was a man known for his love of playing guitar and horseshoes, and for his generous heart. Richard was a devoted father and grandfather who raised children that were not his own—Renee Owens Davis, David Owens, Jared Owens, and Nikki Owens—embodying the true meaning of unconditional love.

He was married to his beloved Elizabeth Watkins, his soulmate, and together they created a life filled with love and kindness. Richard was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren—Katie Stephens, Kirsten Owens, Cade Stephens, Kailey Ferguson, and Kyle Stephens—and six great-grandchildren—Chloe, Calleigh, Cambry Baugh, Paisley Burris, Ellie Gribble, and Everleigh Stephens. He also loved his faithful dog, Toby Roy.

Richard was the kindest man anyone ever met—an angel walking on earth, always willing to lend a helping hand, and doing anything for others. His warmth and compassion touched the lives of everyone around him.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, kindness, and the beautiful person

A graveside funeral service for Richard will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Solsberry Cemetery, 10121 E Wilkerson Dr, Solsberry, Indiana 47459.
