Robert R. “Bob” Hunter, age 57, of Bloomington, died Tuesday evening, February 8, 2011 at Bloomington Hospital. Born May 9, 1953 in Bloomington, he was the son of Fredrick and Letty (Meadows) Hunter. Bob had a wealth of family and friends he loved spending time with. He was known for his great sense of humor and love of laughter. He loved fishing, traveling, cooking, all animals, playing poker and working crossword puzzles. He was an avid sports fan, was fun-loving, kind, a good neighbor, and generous during his life and also after death by becoming an organ donor. He was lead to the Lord by Pastor Larry Mitchell of the House of Prayer. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1971 and retired from the Monroe County Highway Dept. after 36 years of service. After retirement, he owned and operated his own lawn care service and also delivered mail for the U.S. Postal Service.
He is survived by three sisters, Barbara (Jim) Hays, of Ellettsville, Carolyn Cox, of Gosport and Linda Hunter (Daniel Ward), of Bloomington; two brothers, Fredrick (Kathy) Hunter and Donald Hunter, all of Ellettsville, an uncle, Robert H.(Lois) Meadows, of Bloomington, eight nieces and nephews that were a big part of his life. Bob also leaves behind his faithful companions, his three dogs, Henry, Earl, and Lucy. He was preceded in death by his parents and paternal grandparents, Raymond and Nella Hunter, his maternal grandparents, Cleveland and Melissa Meadows, and one sister, Nora Lee Hunter.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at Day Funeral Home Chapel Pastor Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may visit the family at the Day Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. to1:30 P.M.
