Robert Gene Shipley

Robert Gene Shipley, age 85, of Bloomfield, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, June 16, 2025. Born to parents, Wilard and Mary Shipley in Greene County, Indiana on September 29th , 1939. He married Marcia Shipley on August 27th, 1977 on base in Brunswick, Maine and she survives.

He is survived by his wife Marcia, daughter Sandra, one brother Charles” Fred” Shipley, two grandchildren Karen and Bryan, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by five brothers, Clyde, Willard “Bill,” Samuel, And Christopher “Christy” Shipley.

Robert joined the Navy at sixteen and spent thirty years serving our Country, spending most of those in Maine where he met Marcia.

He loved restoring old cars, especially his Model A, working on all things mechanical and electronic, and building clocks. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his Harley-Davidson and boating.

A visitation for Robert will be held Monday, June 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47401, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Robert will be laid to rest in Greene County Chapel Cemetery, 4512 N Greene County Line Road, Solsberry, IN 47459.
