Ruth B. Allen

Ruth B. (Pate) Allen, 92, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side in the early morning hours of February 17, 2018. Ruth was recently residing in Meadowood Health Pavilion.
Ruth was born in 1925 to the late Delmar and Edna (O’Neal) Koontz of Clear Creek, Indiana. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Bloomington and Monroe County.
Among her hobbies Ruth loved to play competitive board games and cards; she couldn’t grow flowers but was an excellent vegetable gardener; she was a great cook and was known for her tasty fried chicken. She enjoyed riding roller coasters with her grandchildren and never turned a stray animal away. Mostly, she loved being with her family. Ruth was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Clear Creek Christian Church.
She is survived by two daughters; Tami (husband Hart) Boesel and Carol (Greg) Ridge. Ruth is also survived by six grandsons; Robin, Troy, Brian Jon, Jason, Brian and Hart, one granddaughter; Kadi, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; Paul Pate and Edsel Allen, her son Ronald Pate, four brothers; Russell, Harry, Rufus and Opal Joe Koontz, and two sisters: Ruby Corman and Mary Bourke.
Visitation for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home 4150 E. Third St. Bloomington, Indiana 47401. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
