She graduated from Bloomington North High School in the Spring of 1984. Upon graduation, Teresa immediately entered Indiana University through the Groups Program to study Nursing. Her inspiration to become a nurse was born from her younger brother, Richard. Richard, paralyzed from the waist down at birth, needed the care and understanding from the entire family and Teresa had found her calling. They had a special bond and her love to care for people continued throughout her life.
She was commissioned into the Army upon graduation from Indiana University. Her career as an Army nurse were the happiest days of her life. Upon completing her tour as an Army nurse, she returned to Indiana where she began her civilian nursing career as an RN at Methodist Hospital.
Teresa loved serving her country and was a proud veteran of the Army Nursing Corp. Her love for the Army and the United States was proudly displayed on her car and in her home. Anytime she visited the VA Hospital in Indianapolis, she supported Veterans by buying hats, t-shirts and other clothing items that visibly displayed U. S. Army insignia.
Teresa also loved to cook and fancied herself a fine mechanic and was known as “Ms. Fix it” in the family.
She is survived by her parents Michael John and Armiller Grubb, her brother Michael John (Liset) Grubb and her sons James McKenzie and Justin McKenzie. Preceding her in death were her maternal grandmother, Idealor Hudson, her maternal step-grandfather, Pete Hudson, her maternal grandfather, Sam Bell Jr., her paternal grand-mother, Nancy Grubb, her paternal grand-father, Vernon Grubb and her brother, Richard Grubb.
