Born February 27, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Adam and Gladys West Grigorowicz. Tom graduated in 1962 from Ohio State University with a music education degree and marched with the Ohio State Marching band. After receiving his PhD from the University of Texas, he taught for 35 years in the Indiana University School of Education in Bloomington and pursued his interest in educational reform. On sabbatical in 1975 he studied Architecture at the University of Oregon.
Tom was an avid recreational sailor and a long-time member of the Lake Monroe Sailing Association. He had a passion for classical music and was a prolific writer. He enjoyed performing with the Bloomington Chamber Singers and was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Bloomington, where he sang in the church choir. He spent much of his life working with wood, refurbishing old furniture, creating new pieces, and maintaining his wooden sailboats.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Diane, of Bloomington; two sons, Thomas “Tom” Gregory, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Robert “Bob” Gregory, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and two grandchildren, Ian Gregory and Evelyn Gregory, who also reside in Maryland.
