

Willette Dean “Deanie” Hickman, age 89, of Bloomington passed away Saturday morning, June 17, 2023 at her residence. Born December 13, 1933 in Meshack, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Fed Pitt and Lucy Emiline (Gerald) Hammer. Deanie retired after 42 1/2 years of service with RCA where she was a group leader and relief operator and help build the first color television. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, fishing, spending time with family and friends and camping, where she was a member of the Good Sam Club. She was a member of the Ellettsville Church of Christ.
Deanie is survived by her sister, Opal Naomi Kynerd, of Tampa, Florida; nieces and nephews, Leslie Donald Kynerd, Steve (Sandra) Kynerd, Kathy Runyon, Marsha (Charlie) Long, Gerald Ray (Sheryl) Hammer, Vickie Hobbs, Randy (Lois) Atkins, Ken Atkins, Larry Paul (Debbie) Atkins, Paula Montoya, Deana Flores, Marilyn Luna and Donna Kay Sanders and several other beloved great-nieces and great-nephews whom she dearly loved, including Misty DeMoss, her great-niece who was her primary caretaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allen Jay Hickman on October 3, 2018, five brothers, Elijah Ray Hammer, Gerald Bob Hammer, Eldon Hardin Hammer, Kermit Cohen Hammer and Eagle Cornelius Hammer, four sisters, Lucy Olene Atkins, Elsie Imogene Sanders, Betty Irene Kemp and Hazel Susan Hammer, one brother-in-law, David J. Hickman and two nieces, Barbara Craig and Debbie Garzon.
The funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. with Bro. Johnnie Edwards and Bro. Paul Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
