

William T. Campbell Jr., M.D., age 86, of Bloomington, died Monday. Bill’s first love is Jesus Christ his savior with whom he now resides for eternity. He was born June 27th, 1928, to William T. Campbell and Estelle White Campbell. They preceded him in death along with his sister Elaine Seymour Campbell and his daughter Cheryl Diane Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; brother, Don Campbell (Roberta); his children, Elaine Wagner (Greg), Janet Clark (Murray), Bill Campbell (Lori), Andrew Campbell (Heidi); and Linda’s son, Colin Garcia. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jim, Holly, Kate & Anne Clark; Rachel & Will (IV) Campbell; Carl, Austin, Allie & Quin Campbell, and his nephews David Campbell and Erich Campbell (Kristen).
Bill received his medical education and training in Pittsburgh from the University of Pittsburgh and Allegany General Hospital. He served as a medical officer in the United States Navy and was Chief of Anesthesia at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. In 1956, he moved to Bedford, Indiana, and established his medical practice in family medicine and anesthesia. In 1963, he moved with his family to Bloomington, Indiana, where he and his wife, Happy, raised their children. He practiced anesthesia for 40 years at Bloomington Hospital, retiring in 2000 after practicing with his son, Bill, for 8 years. He served on the Hospital Board from 1987 to 1990 and was Chief of Staff from 1991 to 1992. He was a founding member of Bloomington Anesthesiologists. His love for the Lord led him in several directions: He was instrumental in bringing Youth For Christ (YFC) to Bloomington and in 1989 chaired their first board. Youth For Christ is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, where he taught both high school and adult Sunday school classes for over 20 years. He taught his last class Sunday, the day before he left to be with his Lord! We know that we live in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. – 1 John 4:13
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 26) at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. A time for family and friends to visit will follow.
