With heavy hearts, we share that Angelita Kwan — beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend — passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, at the age of 85.
Angelita leaves behind a rich legacy of love, family, and service. She was a devoted mother to Fred (Isabel) Kwan, Nancy (Robert) Kwan, and Christina Kwan, and a cherished grandmother to Justin (My) Kwan, Keoni Kwan, and Madeleine Soohoo — a role that brought her immense joy and pride.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Angelita later emigrated to the United States, where she built a warm and vibrant life with her husband, Fred G. Kwan, in Boston, MA. She worked at John Hancock for nearly 20 years before moving to the Social Security Administration, where she put her knowledge of five languages to work as an administrator and translator. Angelita also had a deep love of music, food, and travel, and even while raising her children and building her career, she found time to see the world — carrying home stories, memories, and a spirit of adventure that stayed with her always.
Angelita's generosity extended far beyond her family. She gave her time and heart to her community, volunteering with the Boston Marathon, the Kwan Family Association, and the Chinese Opera Choir — always ready to lend a hand and share her warmth with others.
Though her passing leaves a deep void, her love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in each of us. We find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, having lived a full, joyful life surrounded by the people and passions she loved most.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM at J.S. Waterman Langone Chapel, 580 Commercial Street, Boston, MA. COMPLIMENTARY VALET PARKING ATTENDANTS AT FRONT DOOR. Funeral Service will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Hills Cemetery.
