Born November 28, 1944 in Roslindale, MA to his parents Alfred DiMarzo of Boston, MA, and his mother Josephine Mirabile DiMarzo of Messina, Sicily. He graduated from high school in Hyde Park, MA, then went on to earn an Associates Degree in Architecture from Boston University. As a young man he excelled at dancing, dating, and socializing with his brother, Al, and close friends.
While working as an architect in Philadelphia, he excelled in taking photos of buildings and landscapes. He trained himself in the art that would become a passion in his life. He returned to Boston where he began working as a fashion photographer for Jordan Marsh. Over the years, his talent and focus propelled to him the top of his craft, landing him as the publisher of the iconic North End-focused lifestyle magazine, Scene Boston, part of Frank DePasquale Ventures. Through his photos and stories, he both interpreted and shaped the culture of the North End.
Bobby was a fixture in the community and made many deep and special friendships. His kindness, honesty, and humor was a comfort to many people. He always had time to talk and laugh with the people he cared about. He became family to many friends.
He is survived by his sister, Diane DiMarzo Hanson, his sister-in-law Anita Forcellati DiMarzo, his nephew Dennis Hanson and his wife Jeanine, his niece Dena Hanson, and Great Nephews and Niece Andy, Alex, Kaela, Ethan, Ryan, Eli, Brady, Kiernan, and some dear and devoted cousins. He is also survived by many loving friends too numerous to list, but too important in his life to not recognize here.
Bobby saw life through the lens of his heart, and it was always magnified. He lived big, and he was a true blessing to many. His vision lives on in his amazing photos, his love lives on in the heart of his friends and family.
Morning visitation for Bobby will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Leonard Church, 320 Hanover Street, Boston, MA 02113, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
