He was the beloved son of the late Clara (Mangiante) Sarno, and brother of the late Ralph "Sonny" Sarno and the late Florence (Sarno) Capozzi. He was the loving uncle of Felice, Claire, and the late Priscilla. Freddy was predeceased by his best friend Joe “Cheegelo” Coppola, as well as his favorite uncle Frank Sarno. He is survived by good friends Mary, Janine, Lenny, Matty, Louie, Anthony and many others.
Freddy spent many years selling fruits and vegetables down at Haymarket. He also started Little League Baseball in the North End of Boston. His favorite activities were going out to dinner, playing cards in the social clubs on Endicott and Thacher Streets, being on a golf course, and being in Miami Beach during the cold winter months.
A Mass in Celebration of Freddy’s life will be held in St. Leonard Church, 320 Hanover St., Boston on Friday October 2, 2026, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Freddy’s memory to the Leonard Florence Center for Living, 165 Captains Row, Chelsea, MA 02150.
