Dolores Moon

Dolores (DeeDee) Moon, age 88, of Kirkland, Washington passed away at home on Sunday, September 24, 2023. She was born June 19, 1935 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, the 6th of 7 children, to James and Frances (McNally) Dolan. She graduated from Scott High School in 1953, where she was an excellent student, the captain of the cheerleading squad and met her future husband, Thomas J. Moon. They married in 1954 and lived in San Leandro, California while Tom was in the Navy. They eventually bought a home in Bricktown, N.J., and raised four children, Michelle, Tom, Jerry and Jim. The youngest of her children was born in 1964. After briefly living in North Carolina for a year, the family moved to Monroe, Washington in 1969. Dolores worked in Dr. Phil Aronson’s dental office in Monroe for a few years and then began working at GTE Northwest in 1973 and retired in 1993. After her husband died in 1976, she moved the family to Bellevue, WA. After she retired, she devoted herself to her family, which was the most important to her in her life. Dolores was 100% Irish and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Being Irish of course, she was an wonderful story teller and shared fascinating memories of Dolan family anecdotes. Her son James took her on a trip in spring of 2010 to her beloved Ireland to fulfill a dream of visiting “the motherland”. She lovingly complied detailed genealogy records and family photographs that she shared with her children and relatives. She also enjoyed travels with her friend Eunice Chaffey to Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Greece and the Caribbean. A life-long lover of dogs, in her later years, she doted on her pet Rusty and the two were inseparable for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, and her siblings, William, James, Ann Vesey, Gerald, Edward and Michael.

She is survived by her four children, Michelle Elledge (Doug), Thomas (Suzi), Gerald (Audrey) and James, her grandchildren, Greg Elledge, Coreen Moon, Crystal Bray, Michael Elledge and Eli Moon, three great-grandchildren, Breyona, Jayden and Ariel and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Dolores will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lifetime Celebrations by Washelli, 18224 103rd Ave. NE, Bothell, WA 98011. A funeral mass will occur Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Saint Brendan Catholic Church, 10100 NE 192nd St, Bothell, WA 98011. A graveside service will occur Friday, October 6, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Holyrood Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St, Seattle (Shoreline), WA 98155.
