

John was born in San Diego, CA, one of John Salgado and Clementina Cesena’s 10 children. He attended Hoover High School before serving in the US Army in WWII where he was a Sergeant in the 214th Anti-aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion stationed in central Europe. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Purple Heart. After returning home he married Barbara Butler and had three children.
Jack worked as a plumber his whole life starting in San Diego and then in the greater Seattle area after moving to Kirkland, WA. He coached in the Kirkland Little League and helped with the creation of Everest Ball Field and Kirkland Municipal Pool.
In 1971 he married Marilyn Turpin and shared 50+ years with her. Together they raised many beloved Scottie dogs. He was active in the Alta Anglers and golfed well into his 80s.
He was preceded in death by his siblings and leaves behind his wife Marilyn, sons Mark (Sandy) and Steve, his daughter Teresa (Kat), step-daughter Sharon Turpin (Brian), step-sons Dick Turpin and John Turpin (Danielle) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and much loved niece and nephews.
