Adeline was born 14th of May 1919 in Beresford, South Dakota to Samuel Stene and Cora Johnson Stene, she was their 2nd child of 6 children. The family moved to Texas after 1925, and finally to Littleton
Colorado by 1930. As a child and youth, Adeline and the family worked hard in their
farm, and worshiped in the Lutheran church. In 1937 Adeline met and married Richard Radke. They had one daughter, Elna Bernice,but Adeline and Richard divorced soon after. Adeline met Frank Benedict around 1938,and they married in 1939, having a son, Frank Jr. in 1940, and a daughter, Estelle, in 1942
The family lived in Denver during the 1940’s, later moving to Albuquerque for one year
before returning to Denver for good. With the kids nearly grown, Adeline worked for Riley Reproductions in Denver for a number of years until the early 1960’s, when she began a teaching practice of piano and organ lessons from her home which was successful for 30 + years.Frank Sr. and her retired from working full time in the 1980’s, and enjoyed trips with their motorhome. Frank Sr. passed away in 1990.
In 1992 Adeline married John Volp, who she met through mutual friends. John was a man of many talents whose interest in life seemed a good match for Adeline’s.Adeline led an active and interesting adult life that included interests in dance, painting, piano, and of course, gardening.
In 2006, John Volp passed away, and Adeline lived alone continuing her interest in reading and gardening even more. After 2011, Adeline took in a grandson, Philip, who stayed with her and looked after her until she required assisted living. On March 22, 2020, Adeline suffered a stroke, and succumbed on March 25, 2020 Adeline leaves a legacy of music and nature and self-exploration to her many Descendants who will not forget her. 12 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Greats! Adeline is survived by her only son Frank Benedict Jr and her baby brother Roger Stene.
