Agnes Clara Alverson was born on December 26, 1919 in Webster County, Nebraska to Floyd and Clara (Lovejoy) Copley. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 19, 2020 at Poulsbo, WA. She was 100 years old.
Agnes saw many changes in the world during her lifetime and lived through the Great Depression and the Dustbowl, some of our country’s more challenging times. Agnes was a kind and caring mother, grandmother, and aunt. In her younger years, she worked in a beauty shop with her sister, Mildred, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was considered very talented and learned what she needed to know with on-the-job training. Many clients would ask for her specifically.
She married at 21 to Harry F. Alverson. They had five children together: Ronald Alverson, Jacqueline Wilson, Jon Alverson, Michael Alverson, and Robert Alverson. Agnes spent many years caring for her family and was a great cook and homemaker. She loved walking, gardening, refurnishing furniture, books, crossword puzzles and needlepoint. She later worked in a sorority house, at a bank, and as a caregiver during her life.
She spent much of her life in Nebraska and Colorado and lived in many places, including Nevada and California. One of her greatest journeys was a trip to Ireland. She spent her final years in the Northwest, living in Washington and Oregon near family and loved ones. However, her heart and her home were always in Colorado.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, all of her children, four of her siblings, Donald Copley, Leland Copley, Mildred Copley and Vivian Rose.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Kolstad of Hillsboro, Oregon, five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and even great, great grandchildren. Agnes also took pride in being related to Elijah Parish Lovejoy and Owen G. Lovejoy. Both men lived and died fighting for the rights of others.
Agnes lived a long life filled with love, but also with loss. Everyone that knew her loved and admired her for her strength, perseverance, as well as her sense of humor. She will be laid to rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado, near her children and they will be together again.
