Alan Howard Wasserman, 77, passed away on October 17, 2026 at his home in Boulder, Colorado. Alan was born on February 5, 1949 to Sarah Horwitz and Charles Wasserman in New York. He was raised in the Bronx, New York, with his sister, Harriet Coorssen. He was accepted into the Bronx High School of Science, attended CCNY (1970), and received his Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery from Columbia University (1974).
Upon graduating from Dental school, he was so proud of the opportunity to work on the Navajo Reservation in Lukachukai, Arizona. This cemented his love of the West. He then decided to open a practice in Boulder, Colorado, and remained there to raise his family.
In 1982, Alan married Christina, the love of his life. 9 years later, they welcomed a daughter, Danielle, into the family. Alan and Christina’s love to travel, now included Danielle. Alan was a loving father and husband, devoted to sharing his love of sports with Danielle. They would cheer on the hometown Colorado Buffaloes and Denver Broncos, while Alan maintained his love for the NY Yankees. Alan and Christina would travel together to Danielle’s youth basketball games and soccer matches across the state, and cheered her on in Massachusetts where she played soccer at the College of the Holy Cross.
Alan loved being a dentist and cherished every connection to each patient. He decided to further his education and received his Masters from the University of Colorado in Health Administration (1994). When the time came and he started transitioning towards retirement, Alan and Christina started planning out all the trips they’ve been wanting to take. He loved to travel all over the world with his family to enjoy different cultures and landscapes. From digging into King crab legs in Alaska, to seeing David in Florence Italy - Alan loved it all. Visiting family and friends on the East Coast was always a highlight to see those that were not located near Colorado.
Outside of dentistry, Alan was the chef of the family and loved to host holiday dinners. Christina was the sous-chef while Danielle entertained family and friends. Danielle started taking over some of the hosting responsibilities in recent years and plans to keep the Wasserman hosting traditions alive. Alan was a smoked meats master and loved his Traeger. He knew how to make the best matzo ball soup, which is now a family recipe.
Alan was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Horwitz, his father, Charles Wasserman and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alan and Mira Puszman. He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Wasserman; daughter, Danielle Wasserman and son-in-law Gabe Henriques of Boulder, CO; sister, Harriett Coorssen and brother-in-law Gerry Coorssen of Tucson, AZ.
