Ann was born November 20, 1937 in London, England to Albert George Lawrence and Ethel Olive Williams. Separated from her siblings by way of Operation Pied Piper in 1939, she returned to London just in time to witness and survive the Blitz.
Perpetually up for an adventure, Ann lived in South Africa for a few years, where she developed a lifelong love for giraffes, circle songs, and reckless abandon. Ann returned to London, spending the remainder of her 20s sweet talking her way out of speeding tickets, cocktailing with John Cleese, and creating mischief.
In her early 30s, she headed for more adventure in Brussels, Belgium where she once survived for 2 weeks on the sustenance provided by the apples fallen from her neighbor’s tree in favor of using her grocery money for a fabulous pair of leather pants. Brussels is the location where, in 1974, Ann met her husband, Werner, a Swiss-American Playboy tamed only by Ann’s captivating smile. Werner and Ann had two children in rapid succession, moved to Great Britain and set to making memories of the hand-made flower crown, outdoor tea party variety, with their two girls.
In 1983, Ann and Werner decided it was time for a new adventure in California. Ann spent the better part of two decades bringing moments of pure joy and silliness to her children, and all those lucky enough to be near her. And, of course, putting on dinner parties the likes of which most have never seen, replete with stuffed grapes, and every booze you have never heard of at the ready.
In 1998, Ann’s daughter, Jennifer moved from Half Moon Bay to Boulder, Colorado followed soon after by her second daughter, Samantha. Terrified they might make babies without her nearby, Ann decided to retire and follow her girls to the Rocky Mountains where she settled in beautiful Lyons, Colorado. A few years later, the girls made Ann plenty of babies upon whom she was most happy to dote in every way humanly possible.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Jennifer La Follette and son-in-law, Joe La Follette of Lyons, Colorado; her daughter Samantha Löw and and son-in-law Michael Shannon of Homer, Alaska; grandchildren Wyatt LaFollette, Ty LaFollette, Chance LaFollette, Emmet Sweeney, and Liam Sweeney, all residing in Colorado. And her sister, Jean Hart, and nieces Deborah and Sue, all residing in England.
