Anne (always with an “e”) Finnigan was born March 13th, 1954, to Joe and Shirley Finnigan in San Francisco. The eldest of six, she was the absolute embodiment whimsy. Although most knew her as a writer with an avid and lively imagination, she was also a fantastic chef, a warm and loyal friend, a beloved mother and stepmother, a true epicurean, and, at one point, a street-corner seller of flowers (much like Eliza Doolittle) and wearer of a particularly hideous green turban (a youthful folly she loved to reminisce about). While most of her work appeared in magazines such as Newsweek, Working Mother, and Hallmark, she was also a novelist—her book, Enchanted Ink, was published in summer of 2014. The only thing bigger than her heart was her appetite—it was not unusual to overhear her querying her bemused dinner companions, “are you going to eat that?”. She was deeply loved and will be desperately missed. Annie is survived by her daughter, Gracie, and stepchildren, Rachael and Jake. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday April 18, 2015 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1128 Pine St. in Boulder. To send condolences please go to www.cristmortuary.com.
