

Jack is survived by his children Jim Earl (wife Tonya), Chris Earl (wife Vicky), Heather Shepherd (husband Michael), Art Houlditch (wife Ginny), and sister Mildred and many grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Gwendolyn “Gwen” Earl.
Jack had a long and prestigious career of 33 years at Mountain Bell, working his way up the organization and retiring as an Assistant Vice President of Construction. Jack went on to start multiple technology companies and spent several years overseas bringing telephony technologies to underdeveloped countries. Outside of work, he was a devoted husband, father and member of St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Church.
He enjoyed working around his house, particularly being outdoors and completing woodworking projects for his loved ones. He will be remembered for his unwavering drive, perseverance, and desire to continue to contribute even in his final days. He was generous and kind to those in need, and above all determined, tenacious and steadfast in spirit.
A memorial service will be held at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place in Boulder, Colorado on January 24, 2026 beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or St. Francis Anglican Church in Estes Park.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Boulder Community Hospital for their compassionate care in his final days.
