Catherine Jean Shawver

Catherine, also known as Cathy, passed away peacefully with family by her side in Northglenn, CO at the age of 85. She was born in North Mankato, MN to Raymond and Laurel Fitterer. Cathy was one of six children and the only girl, raised on the family farm. She graduated from Mankato High School, and married Dwayne James (Jim) Wilkins of Glencoe, MN, the following year in 1959. Together, they had four children, moving the family to Northglenn, CO in 1968. Following the death of Jim, she later married Richard (Rich) Shawver in 1995 in Northglenn, CO. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, homemaker and friend to all. She loved cooking, crafting, sewing, square dancing, flowers and gardening, gourmet dinner club, the outdoors and camping, time spent at Rich and her mountain cabin, cruises and travels to Alaska, Australia, Europe, Mexico and the Holy Land. She was a founding member of Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Catholic Church where she was employed for nearly 30 years. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, and practiced it daily, living by God’s example. She adored her IHM church family. She is preceded in death by husband Jim Wilkins, parents Raymond and Laurel Fitterer, and brothers Francis and Richard (Dick) Fitterer. She is survived by her husband Richard Shawver, children Tony Wilkins (Vicki), Wendy Close (Austin), Jon Wilkins (Tammy), Jerry Wilkins (Debbie), 13 grandchildren, one great grandson, three brothers, Robert (Bob), Thomas (Tom), and Mike Fitterer, step-children Drew Shawver (Missy), Dwayne Shawver (Amber), Daren Shawver (Stephanie), eight step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and her four-legged best friend, Duke, her dog. This wonderful, caring soul will be deeply missed, and forever live in our hearts and minds.

A rosary for Catherine will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 5:30 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, CO. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 11385 Grant Drive, Northglenn, CO 80233. A committal service will occur Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Staging Area "A" at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO 80236.
