November 10, 1993 – April 10, 2025
David Ryan Reily, age 31, passed away on April 10, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado. Born on November 10, 1993, at Fort Carson, Colorado, Ryan was a bright and imaginative soul whose life touched many.
Ryan is lovingly remembered by his parents, Carol and David K. Reily, and his brother, Keith Reily. He is also remembered with gratitude for the life and love of his birth mother, Tracey Downing, who passed away recently. Ryan and his family remained deeply thankful for the open adoption that Tracey lovingly chose, allowing him to grow up in a home filled with care and connection.
Raised in Colorado Springs, Ryan attended Chipeta Elementary, Holmes Middle School, and Coronado High School. As a child, Ryan’s fascination with animals led to an unconventional menagerie of pets, including a bearded dragon lizard, snakes, and tarantulas—much to his mom’s chagrin. His adventurous spirit carried over into his love for skateboarding, where he mastered a wide range of tricks and became known for his skill and fearlessness.
In his adult years, Ryan called Boulder home, where he shared life with his beloved cat, Marshmello. He found creative expression in composing electronic music and often immersed himself in imaginative storytelling and artistic pursuits. Ryan experienced a profound transformation in his twenties when he came to faith in Jesus. His commitment to spiritual growth was evident in his daily Bible study and his participation in Youth With A Mission (YWAM) training in Hawaii. Ryan then traveled to Africa on a mission trip, where he joyfully sang with children and shared the message of hope and love with those in need.
Upon returning to Colorado, Ryan found community and purpose in the restaurant world, where he was known as a gifted and passionate short-order cook. His warmth, creativity, and openness left a lasting impression on friends across Colorado Springs, Boulder, and the Denver area.
A private, informal memorial will be held by the family in Boulder, Colorado, in June to celebrate Ryan’s life and the memories he created with those who loved him.
Ryan will be deeply missed and forever cherished. His life, though brief, was vibrant, heartfelt, and filled with moments of light.
