She was surrounded by her loving family as she entered Glory. As the first of nine children, she was born to Daniel Buckwalter Weaver and Mary Elizabeth Mellinger Weaver on September 17, 1930 in Lancaster, PA.
On June 30, 1951, Dottie married Walter (Walt) Louis Baker. Together they raised the 4 J’s: Judy, Jeff, Jonathan, and Jan. In 1958 Walt and Dottie joined Crossworld and began their life-long ministry partnership, of more than 50 years; in Haiti, in the United States, and in many other countries.
During their ministry, Dottie selflessly invested herself in the lives of her family, the Haitian people, and the many students that she and Walt mentored from Dallas Theological Seminary and from around the world. Faithfully, she served at “Luke’s Closet”, a ministry that provides food and clothing to students in need. Although she did not actively seek the spotlight, God gave Dottie a powerful platform of ministry as she was a portrait of a Proverbs 31 woman … hospitable, gracious, compassionate, devoted, elegant, and God-fearing.
Dottie leaves behind her husband of more than 60 years, Walter Louis Baker; her four children: Judith Anne Sell (Phil) – Grayslake, IL; Jeffery Louis Baker – Dallas, TX; Jonathan Lee Baker (Barbara) – Pachuca, Mexico and Janine Annette Steitz (David) – Superior, CO; her eight siblings: Don Weaver, Dan Weaver, Lois Fulmer, Norma Buhler, Dick Weaver, Jim Weaver, Carol Weaver, Judy Weaver; and her eight grandchildren: Adam and Emily Sell, Benjamin Baker, Josiah and Abigail Baker, and Elizabeth, Zachary, and Rachel Steitz.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 27 at 1pm at Calvary Bible Church, 3245 Kalmia Ave, Boulder, CO 80301.
