

Bud was born in Emporia, Kansas April 2, 1918, son of Edward (Mac) and Zelma Hollister. Bud attended school in Emporia and was studying at Kansas State University prior to his enlistment in the US Navy Reserves. Bud married Marge Kuhlmann, his high school sweetheart in 1942 and they celebrated 65 years of marriage together prior to Marge’s death in 2007. In October of 1940 Bud became a U.S. Navy Reserve Aviation Cadet and served for the next five years as a pilot for the USNR. His tour of duty took him from Pensacola, Florida where he trained Royal Air Force Cadets to fly to search and rescue in the Gilbert and Marianas Islands in the Pacific during World War Two. He retired his commission as a Lieutenant Commander and returned to Boulder in 1946 to go into business with his father at Hollister Motor Company and continued in the new car business until it was sold in 1994. Bud and Marge had three children, Judy Hollister Hughes (Bill) Benton Harbor, MI, Edward (Butch) Hollister (Kathy) Longmont, CO and Gary Hollister (Emily) Louisville, CO. He was also the proud grandfather of William Hughes, Holli Barker, Mac Hollister, Katie Hollister Johnson and Joe Hollister and great grandfather of seven with the eight due in early 2016.
Bud was preceded in death by his mother Zelma Hollister and father Mac Hollister, sister Florence Ness, Great Aunt and Uncle Herb and Elizabeth Hollister.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2016 at Sacred Heart of Mary, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder, Colorado, 80303.
The family would like to thank the staff at Frasier Meadows, Home Care of the Rockies and Family Hospice for their loving care.
