Edward E. Stapleton Sr.

Edward Emanuel Stapleton, Sr., 86, of Culpeper, VA died on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his daughter’s home, surrounded by family, in Boulder, CO. He was born in Flushing, NY to the late Edward Emanuel Stapleton and Madeline (Kavanaugh) Stapleton.

Mr. Stapleton was the beloved father of Edward Stapleton, Jr and his wife Kim of Leesburg, VA; James Stapleton and his wife Liz of Cupertino, CA; Kathleen Stapleton of Durham, NC; Richard Stapleton and his wife Jill of Culpeper, VA; and Sue Stapleton and her spouse Jim Kemmerling of Boulder, CO. He was the beloved grandfather to Edward IV and Melissa Stapleton; Kyle Heath; and Jennifer, James Jr. and Kristy Stapleton. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Alexa, Emilia, DeShawn, Roman and Sophia.

He is also survived by his sister, Sister Maria F. Stapleton of Brentwood, NY.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Eunice Mary (Langille) Stapleton.

Edward began a career and family business of dairy farming in 1948 in Slate Hill, NY, moving the operation to Culpeper in 1973 where he continued until his retirement. He enjoyed life on his farm surrounded by family and friends whenever possible. He relished watching new generations embrace his rural paradise.

He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club and the Dairymen’s League in Orange County, NY and continued his devotion in service to others as a member of the Knights of Columbus in Culpeper. He developed and especially cherished loyal friendships in both NY and VA.
