Elise Agron Graninger, 63, passed away on June 4, 2023 at her home in Louisville, Colorado after a difficult and sudden battle with cancer. She was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 31, 1959 and moved to Colorado in 1977 to attend the University of Colorado (B.A. ’81 & M.Ed. ’84) where she went on to become a lifetime Buff through her career in the Housing Department working in the Residence Life, Conference Services, and Occupancy Management departments. She retired from CU in 2013 (though she couldn’t stay away when asked to return to assist with busy seasons) and went on to find her calling as a substitute teacher at her neighborhood school, Fireside Elementary, where she was lovingly known as Mrs. G to many students over the years. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a Nana this past Fall when her grandson Sully was born in October of 2022. Elise had a passion for traveling the world and was fortunate to enjoy many cruises with her husband and other family members. She also shared her love for college basketball with both of her kids and was a 40-year season ticket holder for the CU men’s basketball team.
Elise is preceded in death by her parents Marilyn and Austin Agron. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Patrick, her two children, Amanda (Michael) Wahrer and Sean Graninger, and her grandson Sullivan Wahrer. She is also survived by her brothers Scott (Wendy) Agron and Randy (Darlene) Agron and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2023 at Evergreen Mortuary in Tucson, Arizona. Please contact the family for Shiva arrangements. A future celebration will be planned for friends and family in Colorado later this year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Colorado Foundation, Impact on Education, or the Boulder JCC.
