

Eva Jane Mathews of Longmont Colorado passed peacefully from this world and in to the arms of her savior Jesus on the morning of September, 3 2025 at the age of 91. Eva fought a valiant fight against breast cancer starting at the age of 90. She even elected to have a mastectomy in December of 2024. Eva was born March 8, 1934, on the Tobias family farm 3 miles North of Detroit, Kansas to Harry and Ruth Tobias. She was the 2nd youngest of 11 children. Growing up on the farm instilled a very strong work ethic in her. Eva met Hayden Ferris Mathews and fell in love. There were married January, 11th 1950. The Mathews had two daughters, Betty Jo and Delilah Jeannine. Eva and Hayden raised their daughters in Abilene, Kansas until 1962 when Hayden took a job in Boulder, Colorado. She worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator and service assistant for 24 years. After retiring from the Telephone company, she worked for the Boulder Medical center part time. Eva was active in the church and Sunday school. She was an avid reader of the bible. She had a love for crafts and made many shirts, quilts, outfits, paintings and other crafts for herself and family members. Eva and Ferris enjoyed many trips all over the country in their 5th wheel camper. They would take their grandchildren David and Matt Marker on summer vacation to fish and visit different tourist sites around the western United States. Eva loved Colorado sports especially the Denver, Broncos. Eva and Ferris lived in Boulder for 28 years before moving to Niwot, CO. After Ferris passed, she moved to Longmont where she lived the rest of her years. After years of being alone Eva met Kenny Caoughlin. They enjoyed over a decade of square dancing, trips and adventures before his passing in 2019. Eva had a great love for her family and poured love into them both emotionally and through great generosity. She always made sure to make all her friends and family feel special for holidays and birthdays. She would bake cakes and cookies to rival Sara Lee. Eva loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Eva was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Ruth Tobias, all of her 10 siblings, her husband Hayden Ferris Mathews, her partner Kennith Cochran, her son in law Stanley Marker, and her daughter Delilah Jeannine Mathews. Eva is survived by her daughter Betty Jo Marker, Grandson Matthew Marker, Grandson David Marker, daughter-in-law Jessica Marker, Great Grand Children: Grayson, JD, Andrew and Amelia Marker. Eva had a great spirit for live, but was greatly looking forward to being in the presence of her lord and savior Jesus reunited with her husband Haden Ferris Mathews whom she was married to for 53 years.
